Following one of the most interesting CKL seasons - both Phoenix 2 and Phoenix 3 found themselves in the playoffs for promotion to Division 1 and relegation to Division 3.
Phoenix 3 had scored more goals and let in less goals than last season and had increased their number of games won. However, despite a valiant performance, Phoenix 3 lost a high scoring match, 10-12, against a strong Ely Vikings 4 team. So Phoenix 3 will be looking to bounce right back next season.
Phoenix 2 had a stunning season finishing with a very respectable positive goal difference of 51 and being the top goal scoring team in the club. With several clubs vying for second position in Division 2, it went right to the wire with the last game of the division deciding the outcome. So Phoenix 2 lined up against Cambridge University 1 who finished seventh in Division 1. A tense, exciting game saw Phoenix 2 holding onto the lead for most of the match before Uni pulled it back to 9-9 at full-time. The game went to Golden Goal, which having withstood the first Uni attack saw Phoenix sink a goal courtesy of Corinne on their first attack thus winning 10-9.
So Phoenix have the unique position of two teams in Division 1 and two teams in Division 3 making for some fun derby matches next season.
