Brief match report from our annual ten pin bowling competition. There were 19 entrants, 4 lanes, no bumpers (despite protests from Diarne), lots of drinks and lots of fun. Team sheets and talks were given out by the excellent team captains (Abby, Lou, Phil and Andy C). In my opinion the standard of competition was higher than last year and there were strikes being scored everywhere, I think 3 people got turkeys (Kris, Andy C and Ade, with a little help apparently?!) There was a last minute team change, with Mark swapping from Lou’s to Phil’s team (if only he’d stayed where he was!!) and a superstar late arrival straight from Germany in the form of Coz!

Abby’s team (Abby, Andy B, Trick and Gary) took an early lead with a great team name (Abby And TrickAry – get it?) and some good team spirit earning them the 10 extra points. The strongest bowling came from Lou’s team (Lou, Ade, Lucy and Simon H), all scoring averages of well over a hundred. They won the team prize so well done to them. The winner of the “large” bowling trophy was Kris for the second year in a row (it’s in his blood, he’s American). Maybe we’ll see the British reclaim the trophy next year?!

Special mentions must go to Lou, as the runner-up and leading her team to victory; Andy C for almost getting the highest score of the night with 165 in one game, until Kris came along with his last bowl and ruined it; Ali for her amazing curve ball technique; Simon H for his power throws and last but not least, Mark for managing to throw a bowling ball higher than he shoots at korfball.

Well played everyone!!
