Phoenix Summer Events

Phoenix have had a busy summer, participating in korfball tournaments both home and abroad. Well done to all who enjoyed the korfball fun and social antics, particularly the two teams that travelled to the Netherlands for the Velocitas tournament.

We also held our annual beer festival (which is also turning into a bake-off competition). This was a huge success (as always). Below is a summary of the winners from our excellent social secs, Ali and Ellen;

On the beer-based-beverage front we have a winner.... a foreign maker of
the new beer about to appear in all major supermarkets, the RUFF DUFF! well done
Kris! On the non-beer-based-beverage front, Trick's cocktail-based-tricks narrowly
beat Nat's "Ade's Daisy" and ginger wine extravaganza!! (not to mention the high
scoring psy-der and elderberry vino)

Soooo, the bake-off! the data analysis team have been at work all day inputting
the HUNDREDS of voting slips for the clearly-not-thought-through scores for the
FIFTEEN entries in the record breaking BAKE-OFF!
The all-out, overall winner, with an average score of 25.28571 out of 30 is SUSAN with her cake C the chocolate marble cake!!!
In second place overall is G - Gary's gooey conglomoration wtih 23 out of 30
In third place overall is cake B, RHIAN's banana bonanza with 22.9. It was so close that here are fourth and fifth places too:
Fourth - Nicky's mess in a buggy (lemon flavour) 22.75
Fifth - Nat's nutty novelty with 21.7

So, hang up your brewing barrels for another 12 months, check your clothing for
any slogans which include grammatical errors, get those last pieces of now
slightly dried out (or is that just the gluten free courgette cake?] bake-off
entries down you.... have a nice sleep, and see you soon for an ordinary
monday night training session for the most socialable Korf club in cambo!!! rock
on.

EP and AR xxxx
